The third and final week of the COP26 summit is now underway in Glasgow, and that Malthusian jamboree is expected to finally come to a shuddering halt on Friday, Nov. 12.It has done great damage. Many nations have been bludgeoned and blackmailed into walking off the gangplank into de-carbonization and de-growth—South Africa comes to mind. Others have been threatened into swearing fealty to a policy that will eventually destroy them, if it is in fact implemented—as with the case of Argentina. The bankrupt bankers of the world united in Glasgow to demand that hundreds of trillions of dollars be channeled to their latest and greatest speculative bubble. And Prince Charles pranced about on every prominent platform provided to him, declaring war to implement the Empire’s policy, summarized so eloquently by his dead father’s dictum: “In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.” But perhaps worst of all, the population across the planet has been subjected to endless media brainwashing about the so-called “science” of climate change, which has left countless millions of youth, in particular, pessimistic, depressed, and despairing over the future of our species, and their own purpose in life. And yet with all that, COP26 is shaping up as a strategic failure for its Establishment architects, with Russia, China and even India dragging their feet on the green agenda, if it means detaining their own growth. The Presidents of Nigeria and Uganda delivered a vehement rejection of any green agenda that would deny Africa the right to grow and industrialize. Indonesia just said “no.” And President Biden himself had trouble putting a brave face on the fact that he couldn’t even get Congress to approve a carbon tax, not to mention the population’s broad rejection of his entire economic and social agenda in the Nov. 2 elections. In short, it seems that Americans—like their brothers and sisters in China, Russia, and Africa—are in no mood to commit suicide. Each in their way this week delivered a resounding “No!” to the policies they see destroying them and their nations. That is healthy… but insufficient. Rejection is not the same thing as a Renaissance. The crucial missing element—the positive concept of Man and associated economic, scientific and cultural policies—will be the central focus of the upcoming Schiller Institute conference, which will meet under the concept: “All Moral Resources of Humanity Have to Be Called Up: Mankind Must Be the Immortal Species!” That historic two-day conference will begin on Saturday, Nov. 13—the day after the lights are at last turned out on the COP26 summit.
President Joe Biden reflected the British Empire’s frustration and disappointment at the direction things have taken at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, in remarks to the press yesterday: “I indicated that China and Russia not showing up — and Saudi Arabia — is a problem,” Biden said. “We showed up, and by showing up, we’ve had a profound impact on the way I think the rest of the world is looking at the United States and its leadership role,” Biden said.Biden then wagged his finger sternly at China in particular: “I think it’s been a big mistake, quite frankly, for China, with respect to China, not showing up. The rest of the world will look to China and say, ‘What value-added are they providing?’ And they’ve lost an ability to influence people around the world and all the people here at COP. The same way, I would argue, with regard to Russia.” The irony was not lost on Steve Milloy, a Heartland Institute leader and founder of JunkScience.com, who told Fox News: “Biden’s slam of Chinese President Xi and Russian President Putin for not showing up at COP26 is a sad indication of Biden’s failure to grasp or accept real-world realities…. Neither country has any interest in hamstringing its own economy with destructive climate regulations.” He continued: “Rather, Xi and Putin seem to have taken to heart the Napoleonic principle of never interfering with your opponent while he is in the process of destroying himself, which is exactly what the U.S. and Europe are doing with their suicidal embrace of climate idiocy.” COP26 has indeed not gone the way the British Royals had envisioned and demanded. Prince Charles had announced 18 months ago that the world had precisely 18 months left to fully implement the Malthusian Green Reset, and that goal has for sure not been met. Putin is making fun of the entire COP26 endeavor; China has praised the green intention but stubbornly insisted that its own priorities are different and come first; India has agreed to promise anything and everything under the Sun—for 2070, a half century from today. And even significant layers of an American population benumbed by media barrages and other drugs, have at least remembered how to say “no,” as the Nov. 2 elections made clear. But “no” alone won’t work—not internationally, and not in the U.S. The “yes” part—the elaboration and implementation of the viable economic, scientific and cultural policies to forge a new Renaissance, as uniquely provided by Lyndon LaRouche over the past half-century, will be addressed in depth at the upcoming Schiller Institute conference on Nov. 13-14.
Now is the time for the movement founded by Lyndon LaRouche and headed by Helga Zepp-LaRouche to assemble a worldwide anti-Malthusian resistance. The indispensable concept to be supplied, that the LaRouche movement brings to this discussion, and without the which there is no hope for defeating the oligarchical enemy, is the increase of available energy, per capita and square kilometer, for the whole human race, with a particular emphasis on those areas where population growth is most clearly expected in the next fifty years—the continents of Asia and Africa. Though some world leaders are now seeking to stand up to the “carbon colonialism” of the Great Reset, and the “Ghouls Gone Wild” blood-feast at Glasgow, they lack any clear sense of an alternative, and often entertain, if only to be overheard doing so, the pagan “Mother Earth” mantra, or the “carbon dioxide is a real threat” mantra. We cannot allow the degradation of the terms of the discussion into merely seeming to discuss the truth, as LaRouche discusses in his “Riemann Refutes Euler” article. For example, Bolivian President Luis Arce said in his COP 26 speech that “developed countries are promoting a new world recolonization process that we can call the ‘new carbon colonialism,’ because they are trying to impose their own rules of the game in the climate negotiations to continue feeding the new green capitalist system, while pushing developing nations to accept these rules of the game without any other options.” True, but then what? Clearly Bolivia has defended nuclear power as a right of all people, but then, when Arce, an economist, says, in the same speech, that “The solution is to change the model of civilization and move towards an alternative model to capitalism, the concept of living well together in harmony with Mother Earth,” the flaw, and the trap, become clear. Unless the LaRouche notion of energy flux-density, and “the increase of the rate of increase” of energy flux-density, through advanced technologies such as nuclear and thermonuclear power, is understood, mastered, and defended in its own right, no matter how militant the message of opposition to the Great Reset may sound, it will signify nothing; the same tragedy will play out. No “redistributionist” approach will outwit, for example, Lynn Rothschid’s Council for Inclusive Capitalism, which, like Bolivia’s President, calls for “an alternative view of capitalism,”—though they mean something very “indifferent” than he. We need to instantly change the terms of discourse, everywhere in the world, in unexpected ways. Consider how an alert organizer intersected Pope Francis’s call for prayers for Haiti, now undergoing the dissolution of the nation, and threatening the same for the Dominican Republic. Simply by placing a link to our program for Haiti, as itself a physical-economic template for how to approach solving, not only the problem of Haiti, but the problem of many other nations in the Caribbean sector, a liberated discussion of the higher resolution became possible. The function of collaboration with nations, including China, was defined. In that sense, the Pope’s call for prayer was answered: “God, help us—with our right arm.” In the Schiller Institute’s Committee for the Coincidence of Opposites approach, for example, the Afghanistan situation can be seen, and organized, as a workshop for a collaboration of Russia, China, the United States, and India, lessening the danger of war which is otherwise worsening virtually by the hour. It is a “win-win”military strategy of engagement, without recourse to arms and war. The “Operation Ibn Sina” world health emergency intervention is no more a mere medical or “humanitarian” idea, than Ibn Sina was merely a self-taught country physician. Consider: Ibn Sina is not only claimed as a “native son” by many areas and countries in southwest Asia; he is also widely recognized in intellectual history as a pivotal figure in the dialogue between Islam and Christianity, and “East” and “West,” because of his theological and metaphysical writings, prefiguring Nicholas of Cusa in certain respects. If one bothers to think about Arnold Toynbee’s and Bernard Lewis’s gnostic emphasis and predatory approach to both Islam and Christianity, and their virulent opposition to both when it comes to the question of their shared theological mandate to “increase and multiply” the human population, then the “clash of civilizations” strategy of British intelligence, including its pagan-religious side, can more easily be seen, including in their RIIA and Prince Charles “ecocide” and “eco-army” manifestations. “They are neither man nor woman, they are neither brute nor human—they are pestilential carcasses disparted from their souls, called ghouls.” Prince Charles at COP 26 proposed (or, more clearly, disclosed) a war on the human race that was the “fever dream” of not only his father Phillip, and Phillip’s World Wildlife Fund co-founder Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, but of the European synarchist political movements of the 1930s that had shaped both, and even the Queen, as a young child, herself. “Climate change and biodiversity loss … pose an even greater existential threat than the COVID-19 pandemic, to the extent that we have to put ourselves on a war-like footing. We know what we must do. With a growing global population creating ever increasing demand on the planet’s finite resources, we have to reduce emissions urgently, and take action to tackle the carbon already in the atmosphere, including from coal-powered power systems….” “Our efforts cannot be a series of independent initiatives running in parallel; the scale and scope of the threat we face, call for a global systems-level solution…” Sir David Attenborough, the close collaborator of Prince Phillip and a central promoter of the “pre-Gaia” “natural religion” outlook more familiar to people through the work of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung, was applauded, but not for his undiscussed views of population. They include the idea that 75% of the present British population is superfluous. (What’s he thinking about Africa?) Attenborough says, on the website of his organization, Population Matters: “All our environmental problems become easier to solve with fewer people, and harder—and ultimately impossible—to solve with ever more people.” Hannibal Lecter commenting on the speeches of Attenborough and of the three Windsors (the Queen, Charles, and Phillip, whose speech was in the form of the virus that people will shortly recognize they contracted during the other two speeches), said, “I may be a cannibal, but I have standards.” The world deserves better than the inedible Windsors. POSTSCRIPT: A TREE GROWS IN RUSSIA? (Note in this briefing Vladimir Putin’s surgical-ironical intervention into COP 26, concerning Russia’s coming contribution to reforestation. In that context, consider the following.) In his essay, “The Question of Global warming,” scientist Freeman Dyson writes: “It is likely that biotechnology will dominate our lives in our economic activities during the second half of the 21st-century, just as computer technology dominated our lives in our economy during the second half of the 20th. Biotechnology could be a great equalizer, spreading wealth over the world wherever there is land and air and water and sunlight. This has nothing to do with the misguided efforts that are now being made to reduce carbon emissions by growing corn and converting it into ethanol fuel. The ethanol program fails to reduce emissions and incidentally hurts poor people all over the world by raising the price of food. After we have mastered biotechnology the rules of the climate game will be radically changed. In the world economy based on biotechnology, some low-cost and environmentally benign backstop to carbon emissions is likely to become a reality….. “…every carbon dioxide molecule in the atmosphere is incorporated in a plant within a time of the order of 12 years. Therefore, if we can control what the plants do with the carbon, the fate of the carbon in the atmosphere is in our hands…. The science and technology of genetic engineering are not yet right for large scale use. We do not understand the language of the genome well enough to read and write it fluently. But the science is advancing rapidly, and the technology of reading and writing genomes is advancing ever more rapidly. I consider it likely that we shall have ‘genetically engineered carbon eating trees’ within 20 years, and almost certainly within 50 years. “Carbon-eating trees could convert most of the carbon that they absorb from the atmosphere into some chemically stable form and bury underground. Or they could convert the carbon into liquid fuels and other useful chemicals. Biotechnology is enormously powerful, capable of burying or transforming any molecule of carbon dioxide that comes into its grasp…. If 1/4 of the world’s forests were replanted with carbon eating varieties of the same species, the forests would be preserved as ecological resources and as habitats for wildlife, and the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would be reduced by half in about 50 years.”
On February 23, 1982, the inside-the-Beltway law firm of Asher and Schwartz fired off a threatening letter to Lyndon LaRouche on behalf of their client, the Club of Rome and its President, Aurelio Peccei, accusing LaRouche and his associates of “defamation,” “harassment,” “intentional infliction of injury,” and other spurious charges, because LaRouche was campaigning publicly and forcefully against the Club of Rome’s Malthusian policies, which LaRouche described—accurately—as “100 times worse than Hitler.”In less than 24 hours, LaRouche shot back his extended reply, which famously included the following statement of fact: “I affirm here and now, that according to the standards of international law set forth by U.S. Justice Robert Jackson for the Nuremberg War Crimes Proceedings, the Club of Rome is an outlaw association, an international conspiracy whose principals ‘know or should have known’ that its advocacies would represent in practice of nations genocide on a scale as much as one hundred times greater than the genocide perpetrated by the Nazi regime.” Today, nearly 40 years later, we stand on the eve of the international COP26 conference, where the direct heirs of those Club of Rome Malthusians are intent on carrying out that very mission of global depopulation, “by methods which are disgusting even if they are necessary,” as Lord Bertrand Russell so cynically put it in his 1923 Prospects of Industrial Civilization. Now, the trans-Atlantic financial Establishment that spawned the Club of Rome and its modern reincarnations, is reeling from the breakdown crisis of its financial system, the stunning defeat of their “forever wars” in Afghanistan, the rise of a global alternative to their bankrupt system in the form of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and restive populations in many countries that are desperate for substantive change. The response of that desperate Establishment to those countries and people resisting their policies can be characterized simply as the oligarchical battle cry: “Après nous, le déluge.” If—like India, Russia and many Americans—you resist the COP26 program of de-carbonization and deindustrialization, we will use our eco-terrorists to strike at pipelines and industrial infrastructure. If—like Afghanistan—you expel the U.S. and NATO from your country, we will either starve you into submission by freezing your funds and cutting off all finances, or we will leave nothing but scorched earth with tens of millions dead from starvation and disease, just as we are also doing in Haiti. If—like Russia—you warn that Ukraine joining NATO is a red line you cannot accept, we will insist on doing just that and play a nuclear chicken game with you. We will do the same with China over the issue of Taiwan. It is to address this unprecedented crisis that Helga Zepp-LaRouche of the Schiller Institute and Guus Berkhout of the Climate Intelligence (CLINTEL) group have issued a joint “Wake-Up Call,” to rally forces around the world to defeat the Malthusian onslaught. As Zepp-LaRouche reported in her weekly international webcast today, that call “begins by stating that we are in an absolute breakdown crisis, a civilizational collapse crisis, with an acute war danger, an acute hyperinflationary blow-out of the system clearly coming, an incredible genocide in Afghanistan and Haiti, and that one has to look at this whole picture as a totality in order to come to the right conclusion. And then we confront that with the most important question, and that is the matter underlying all of these policies vs. what our policy should be, and that is the image of man.” That “Wake-Up Call,” which is now circulating internationally and is gathering many signatures, presents that concept of man: “1. Human life is inviolable. Man is the only species endowed with creative reason, which distinguishes him from all other living beings. This creative capability enables him to continually discover new principles of the physical universe, which is called scientific progress. The fact that the human mind, through an immaterial idea, is able to discover these principles, which then have an effect in the material universe in the form of technological progress, proves that there is a correspondence between the lawfulness of the human mind and the laws of the physical universe. “2. Just as the spatial expanse and anti-entropic evolution of the universe are infinite, so is the intellectual and moral perfectibility of the human mind. Therefore, every additional human being is a new source for further development of the universe and for the solution of problems on Earth, such as overcoming poverty, disease, underdevelopment, and violence. Taking care of each other is key in this ongoing development. It is the combination of creativity and empathy that transcends mere day-to-day exigencies. “3. Scientific and technological progress has a positive effect in that, when applied to the production process, it increases the productivity of the labor force and of industrial and agricultural capacities, which in turn leads to rising living standards and a longer life expectancy for more and more people. A prosperous physical economy is the precondition for the positive development of the common good, providing not only the elites, but all people with quality food, clean water, affordable and modern health care, quality education, modern communications and, above all, cheap and sufficient energy with high energy flux densities.”
The British Empire has recently notched up a number of economic policy successes—successes, because their policy of Malthusian deindustrialization and depopulation is succeeding in destroying many parts of the globe. Afghanistan, for example, after 20 years of senseless geopolitical warfare, is now being denied access to its own funds ($9.3 billion, as per orders of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen) and is facing a de facto Western economic boycott, which threatens to bring starvation to countless millions and poverty to 97% of the population—according to the most recent UN estimates.Haiti, another bankers’ success story, has 80% poverty. Lebanon now has 75% poverty, thanks to the IMF’s policies and the global energy breakdown. And Syria, the victim of endless imperial warfare and looting, now has a 90% poverty rate. But there is another reality, which every nation on the planet also knows about. Back in 1984, China had a poverty rate of 77%—not unlike what we see today in the four cited nations. And yet over the following 37 years, China lifted over 850 million people out of poverty, reducing its extreme poverty rate to 0%. Hard reality is also asserting itself in various other ways. Try as they may, the British utopians have not been able to banish reality entirely, which is making itself felt forcefully on a number of fronts, as recent developments indicate: • A British parliamentary commission report was issued blasting British policy on COVID in the early period of the pandemic, for adopting “herd immunity” as policy, and for making “a serious early error in adopting this fatalistic approach and not considering a more emphatic and rigorous approach to stopping the spread of the virus as adopted by many East and Southeast Asian countries”—i.e., by China. • Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang presided over a meeting of the National Energy Commission, and announced that China would not blindly de-carbonize its economy, and that instead “the capacity for energy self-supply should be enhanced,” and that China would “build advanced coal-fired power plants as appropriate in line with development needs.” The British rightly read this as a kick in the teeth to the Green Malthusian agenda for the upcoming COP26 meeting in Glasgow, Scotland. • The U.S. Labor Department issued a jobs report on Oct. 12, which says that 4.3 million people quit their jobs in August, a record pace, mainly in the food, retail and health sectors. The report considers that this is largely due to the continuing COVID crisis and that people don’t feel safe working in those sectors. So, contrary to the media propaganda, it is not vaccine mandates and the like which are hurting the economy, but the opposite. • Oil shock: How does $580 per barrel of oil grab you? So far in 2021, the price of oil in the U.S. has gone up 65%, and natural gas by 112%. It’s worse in Europe, where natural gas is projected to reach $30 per million BTUs later this year, and Citigroup is even warning that it could rise as high as $100 per million BTUs, if it’s a very cold winter. They proclaim that would be the equivalent of $580 per barrel of oil. Such reality has a way of impelling people, and especially their leaders, into action—action that they might have previously dismissed as too radical or impractical. On Oct. 14, the Schiller Institute will be holding meetings and rallies around the world to “expose and denounce a crime” against all humanity, and demand: “Release the Funds of the Afghan People!” The call to action concludes: “We, the undersigned, call on President Joe Biden to act in the spirit of the 2020 Doha agreement, signed by the U.S.A., and lift all unnecessary sanctions against Afghanistan, including the use of malign pretexts to prevent its control over the assets of its own central bank as well as its normal access to the international financial markets. The urgency is now!”
Helga Zepp-LaRouche today issued a stern warning that the Green Reset policies of the bankrupt Western financial Establishment have unleashed a hyperinflationary price explosion, notably in the energy sector, coupled with a breakdown collapse of the global physical economy, including its so-called supply chains. This is careening towards “the end game of this financial system,” she forecast, and as this slams the population of the nations of Europe and the United States, “the big awakening will come.”Zepp-LaRouche laid the blame for this systemic breakdown squarely on the Great Reset’s channeling of all investment and capital flows into a gigantic green speculative bubble, on top of 50 years of Malthusian austerity policies which are responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for killing 16 million people a year through starvation. Consider some recent developments in this collapse: • The United Kingdom has escalating shortages of gasoline and of food on the shelves of supermarkets, and they are expecting major disruptions in the ability to harvest food crops this fall. The government has mobilized the army to deal with the gasoline crisis, beginning with 150 tanker truck drivers to move oil from depots to gas stations. • Italy will be raising consumer electricity prices across the board by 30% next Monday, Oct. 4. This will cause massive social and economic dislocation, and it is being blamed on global price hikes for coal, natural gas and other energy sources. • U.S. home sale prices jumped by 19.7% in July, the largest monthly increase in 30 years. They’ve been going up for 14 straight months, and the same inflationary pattern applies to rents. • U.S. shortages of all sorts of consumer and producer goods are expected increasingly through the Christmas period. The transportation system cannot move goods quickly, and major ports such as Los Angeles and San Diego have huge backups and delays. • The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and other industry groups representing 65 million transport workers worldwide today issued a public letter warning of a “global transport system collapse.” • China is facing continuing power cuts and rationing, especially in the northeast of the country. Factories are also affected and many have had to shut down, which is expected to have a big impact on the global supply chain, since China is a major producer for the world market. • The price of natural gas in Europe has quadrupled so far this year, and the international price of oil is following in its wake. Brent crude yesterday traded above $80 a barrel and ended the day at $79.09—near its three-year high. Government spokesmen and financial media are pumping out stories to explain away each of these developments as a string of unrelated events, each with its individual cause: rising energy prices, labor shortages, panic buying, supply chain disruptions, you name it. But the reality is that this is a global pattern which reflects a physical-economic breakdown that is underway, coupled with financial asset hyperinflation of the $1.7 quadrillion speculative bubble. This is a process described uniquely by Lyndon LaRouche’s famous Triple Curve function, a process which is now inexorably playing out on the global stage. Inflation in specific markets (consumer prices, raw materials, etc.) may or may not show up as such in a given period; but it is the overall hyperinflation of financial asset prices which is driving the process—in other words, the “everything bubble,” especially the derivatives bubble. Lyndon LaRouche explained this process in a Sept. 19, 2000 memorandum, “Bring Oil Price Inflation Under Control” (which we reprint in full below), in which he wrote: “Broadly, the current global inflation in petroleum prices threatens to be the detonator of a chaotic breakdown in many, if not all of the economies of the world…. The underlying cause of the crisis, of which the petroleum-price crisis is but the presently leading political-economic consequence, is a general hyperinflation in financial asset-prices, which is now being expressed, at increasing rates, as a hyperinflation in commodity prices now following a trend similar to that suffered by Weimar Germany during the interval March-November 1923…. The increasingly desperate effort to secure inflows of financial assets into the U.S. dollar sector, has seized upon several combined factors, as the opportunity to increase asset-price accumulations from hyperinflationary trends in the delivery prices of petroleum products.” Predictably, the financial Establishment centered in the City of London and Wall Street is in a real conundrum over what to do. On the one hand, they must raise interest rates and “taper” quantitative easing if they wish to contain the inflationary explosion. On the other hand, they can’t raise interest rates and “taper” QE if they want to prevent a total blowout—in fact, they have to unleash ever more extreme forms of monetary and fiscal QE (“financial regime change”) just to live to see another day. The LaRouche movement’s policy to address the crisis is the diametrical opposite of both of these failed Establishment approaches. “The only remedy,” Zepp-LaRouche explained in her weekly webcast, “is a banking separation, a global Glass-Steagall, and to replace this bankrupt system with a new one. That is what we are going to continuously bring into the debate, because this is now really the end game of this financial system.” She went on to draw out what’s at stake in Europe and the United States, and why the Schiller Institute has focused urgent attention on solving the crises in Afghanistan and Haiti, in particular: “There must be a change in attitude! Stop this depraved indifference, the notion that we are trying to get people to reflect upon. Because you have all these people in the West who aren’t even interested. They go about their business as usual. But the only way the U.S. and European nations will overcome their own problems is by focusing on the mission of overcoming the underdevelopment of the developing sector…. You invest in physical economy. You shift from speculation and profit to the idea of the common good, which always has to start with investment in real infrastructure development. “If we cannot get the West to make such a shift, then it is almost a foregone conclusion that the West will go under like the Roman Empire, because of decadence, a depraved state of mind. So we intend to shake people up. “And the way to go is to stop this geopolitical nonsense, which can only end up in the annihilation of the human species, and join hands with the countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, and have joint projects … and move civilization to a condition where the laws of the universe are also the basis of the economic and political policy. That’s why natural law does exist.”
A two-day summit meeting of the heads of state and government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization begins on Sept. 16 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, which will focus on how to stabilize and economically reconstruct Afghanistan. The nations of Asia are generally committed to working with China’s Belt and Road Initiative to bring infrastructure and related development to Afghanistan, and to make sure that international terrorism and the drug trade don’t carry the day.Not so the United States and Europe, whose governments are applying the British imperial policy of starving the nation into submission—or into mass death. The Western nations have frozen Afghanistan’s assets abroad, making it impossible for the economy to function and workers to be paid by their employers; sanctions are ensuring that elementary health care cannot be provided to the population, sanctions that now threaten to explode already widespread poverty into the outright starvation of millions. This is the actual strategic backdrop to the revelations contained in Woodward and Costa’s new book, Peril, which are receiving ample coverage in the mass media. The central fact—which is known to this news service totally independently of the contents of that book—is that there was a British-steered attempted coup d’état against President Donald Trump and the U.S. Constitution in and around the period of the Nov. 3, 2020 presidential election. That operation included efforts by leading figures of the military-industrial complex, reportedly including Gen. Mark Milley, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to unconstitutionally substitute themselves for the President in the role of Commander in Chief. It also included setting the trap of planned Jan. 6 violence orchestrated by agents provocateurs employed by the FBI and other intelligence agencies, and then ensnaring President Trump in that trap with the assistance of the likes of the seedy Steve Bannon. The underlying strategic issue, as the British and their minions such as Milley repeatedly made clear, was Trump’s active decision to pull American military forces out of Afghanistan, end the entire British imperial policy of perennial warfare under the phony flag of “fighting terrorism,” and work cooperatively with Russia and China. That is why that same British apparatus, including General Milley, reacted with shock and dismay when President Biden announced that he would carry out the Trump-initiated policy of a total pullout from Afghanistan and ending the decades of perpetual genocidal wars. Milley, who today is still head of the JCS under Biden, took to national television on Sept. 4 to openly contradict Biden’s stated policy, predicting that the American pullout would mean that Afghanistan would collapse into civil war, that widespread terrorism would erupt there—and, of course, that American troops would have to return to continue the war. Helga Zepp-LaRouche has presented a totally opposite policy for Afghanistan, and for the world. She issued a call for the United States and Europe to join with China, Russia and Central Asian nations in the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan. This approach can stop the perennial war policy, defeat the ongoing British attempted coup d’état in the U.S., and otherwise establish a new strategic alignment capable of replacing the bankrupt London-centered Western financial system. The current attempted coup is actually a continuation of what was unleashed 20 years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001. American statesman Lyndon LaRouche explained the matter in an interview he gave to the daily Al-Bayan, from the United Arab Emirates, on Nov. 16, 2001—scarcely two months after the infamous 9/11 attack. In it, LaRouche began by locating the recently-occurred events in their proper strategic context: “The currently ongoing monetary-financial collapse is far worse than a mere depression, such as that of 1929-1933; it is a systemic collapse of the world system set into motion by President Nixon’s actions of August 1971. That system could never be resuscitated from the present collapse. Our goal should be to eliminate the present system, so that we may resuscitate the world’s economy.” He then took up the question of fighting terrorism. "The reply to this question must be situated within a corrected view of what actually happened in the U.S.A. on Sept. 11. Those attacks could have been organized by nothing less than an intended coup d’état deployed from within very high levels of the U.S. internal military-security apparatus…. “Somewhere, during the evening of Sept. 11, there was a new decision made, to respond to the effect of the morning’s attacks by declaring a war on ‘terrorism,’ and, as I warned against this on a radio interview earlier that day, picking long-standing Anglo-American asset Osama bin Laden as the scapegoat for the case…. “Someone, at very high levels, within the U.S. command structure, unleashed an attempted coup d’état against the Bush government on Sept. 11. Had that crisis led to a nuclear alert escalation between the U.S.A. and Russia, the coup plotters would have succeeded, almost without doubt. President Putin’s Sept. 11 telephone conversations with President Bush, changed the situation in a radical, beneficial way. “Otherwise, nothing else has been solved. The coup d’état has been defeated, at least temporarily, but the nightmare rolls on….” LaRouche then pointed to the way to end that nightmare: “Without putting the present international monetary-financial system through a most drastic form of bankruptcy reorganization, the attempt to continue that system with most reforms, will plunge the entire planet into an early new dark age which will last for perhaps two or more generations…. Were the U.S.A. to become partner of such a Eurasian-cooperation system, the needed basis in economic interest for a peacefully developing world, is established.”
With nearly all policymakers and strategic analysts in the trans-Atlantic sector of the world in a clueless state of utter chaos and hysteria over the developments in Afghanistan, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche today convoked an urgent international seminar for this coming Saturday, August 21 to pursue the only available solution to the crisis: peace through development. The seminar will continue the prescient discussion held by the Schiller Institute on July 31, with many of the same panelists, as well as new ones.Zepp-LaRouche drew a crystal clear picture in her weekly strategic webcast yesterday: “First of all, I do not agree with the hysteria of the Western media that this is the end of the world. The first thing that must be stated, is that it ends 40 years of war for the Afghani people, and if people have any sense of what it means to live in such a long war, all the suffering of the civilians, all the terrible things people had to endure, in terms of drone attacks, in terms of anxiety, I think, first of all, it’s very good that the war has ended. “I think it is, on the contrary, the real chance to integrate Afghanistan into a regional economic development perspective, which is basically defined by the Belt and Road Initiative of China. There is a very clear agreement of Russia and China to cooperate in dealing with this situation. The interest of the Central Asian republics is to make sure there is stability and economic development; and there is the possibility to extend the CPEC, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, into Afghanistan, into Central Asia. So I think it’s a real opportunity, but it does require a complete change in approach.” Zepp-LaRouche continued: “This is an epochal change…. I think that if the European nations and the United States would understand that this is a unique chance, if they cooperate, rather than fight Russia and China and their influence in the region, and if they join hands in the economic development there … then this can become a very positive turning point, not only for Afghanistan, but also for the whole world.” Zepp-LaRouche made a special appeal to the United States in remarks earlier in the day on Aug. 17: “The United States must go back to the foreign policy of the Founding Fathers and the initial period—such as John Quincy Adams—that the aim of the United States is not to chase foreign monsters, but to build alliances. John Quincy Adams said that the United States should have alliances of perfectly sovereign republics, and this is now the moment to really do that. The idea is to not oppose China linking Afghanistan into the Belt and Road Initiative, but rather see it as an opportunity to cooperate, and stop this geopolitical confrontation which can only lead to catastrophe.” She concluded: “That’s the kind of discussion which we have to catalyze.” The video archive of the July 31, 2021 Schiller Institute conference on “Afghanistan: A Turning Point in History after the Failed Regime-Change Era” can be found here: The speakers included: Helga Zepp-LaRouche (Germany), Founder and President of The Schiller Institute; Pino Arlacchi (Italy), Sociology Professor at the Sassari University, former Executive Director of the UN Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, and former European Parliament Rapporteur on Afghanistan; H.E. Ambassador Hassan Shoroosh (Afghanistan), Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Canada; H.E. Ambassador Anna Evstigneeva (Russian Federation), Deputy Permanent Representative at the Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN; Dr. Wang Jin (China), Fellow with The Charhar Institute; Ray McGovern (U.S.), Analyst, Central Intelligence Agency (ret.), Co-Founder, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS); Hassan Daud (Pakistan), CEO, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province Board of Investment; and Hussein Askary (Sweden/Iraq), Southwest Asia Coordinator for the Schiller Institute.
The U.S. is careening towards a “perfect storm” of major social and economic crises over the next couple of months—just as we hit the 50th anniversary of Lyndon LaRouche’s stunning forecast of August 15, 1971, when Nixon pulled the plug on the Bretton Woods financial system, and set the country on a downward physical economic plunge which now threatens our very existence, precisely as LaRouche had warned would occur. With the COVID crisis exploding again in the U.S. and internationally, and the global financial system hanging by a thread, the U.S. is looking at: 1) mass evictions of millions of renters in early October (postponed two months by last-minute action yesterday by the Biden administration); 2) a wave of millions of mortgage defaults and foreclosures in the same time frame; and 3) the end of unemployment help for millions of Americans. And all of this is bearing down on the U.S. as the green-Malthusian energy and industrial blackout plan of the British Empire is scheduled to enter its operational phase internationally, with the COP26 meeting in Glasgow in early November. On the eviction crisis, the can was successfully kicked down the road by exactly two months, to Oct. 3. The CDC announced yesterday—after days of buck-passing among Congress, the Supreme Court and the Administration—that “counties experiencing substantial and high levels of community transmission levels” of COVID-19 would have the current eviction ban extended to Oct. 3. That reportedly covers 80% of the counties and 90% of the population in the country. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky stated on Aug. 3: “The emergence of the delta variant has led to a rapid acceleration of community transmission in the United States, putting more Americans at increased risk, especially if they are unvaccinated…. This moratorium [on evictions] is the right thing to do to keep people in their homes and out of congregate settings where COVID-19 spreads.” In terms of renters, more than 15 million people live in households that owe as much as $20 billion to their landlords, according to the Aspen Institute. As of July 5, roughly 3.6 million people in the U.S. said they faced eviction in the next two months, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey. As for mortgages, at the beginning of August at least 1.75 million homeowners remain in forbearance, or 3.5% of all homes in the US, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. About 1.5 million of the 1.75 million in forbearance are at least 90 days behind—a number roughly equivalent to that reported in March 2021—and at least 20% of them won’t be able to forestall foreclosure past September, according to the Washington Post. But the eviction moratorium doesn’t even begin to touch the underlying problem. Even Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) stated yesterday: “This is a short-term, long-term strategy. When in fact the moratorium ends, we absolutely cannot be in the same place we are in now. … We need to have some legislation passed in Congress, in the House, especially.” But there is no indication that she or anyone else in Congress is thinking at this point of anything other than more bailout funds, which will of course do nothing to solve the underlying problem. The proper approach is LaRouche’s Homeowners and Bank Protection Act, or HBPA, which provides the required policy—which emphatically includes the bankruptcy reorganization of the entire international speculative bubble, and kick-starting the U.S. physical economy with massive investments in physical infrastructure projects at home and abroad, along with other nations such as China, Russia and India. It is clearly time to study the wise words of Lyndon LaRouche. And that will be the central theme of the LaRouche Legacy Foundation’s upcoming Aug. 14 conference: “So, Are You Finally Willing To Learn Economics?”
You may have missed it, but back on July 23 the British hosts of the upcoming Glasgow COP26 UN climate change conference announced excitedly that there were only 100 days left to the beginning of their Nov. 1-12 green atrocity, which is intended to usher in the Age of Depopulation based on enforced deadly cutbacks in energy and industrial production, justified by a supposed “science of climate change.” This is the Schachtian nightmare that Lyndon LaRouche warned 50 years ago would become Mankind’s fate, if we failed to alter the deadly policy course adopted on August 15, 1971. That policy course has not been altered—yet. To flatten the Earth on the way to Glasgow, which will meet under the slogan “Uniting the World To Tackle Climate Change,” the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will release the next report of its Working Group I on Aug. 9, following an approval session now underway from July 26 to August 6. “Working Group I assesses the physical science basis of climate change,” the IPCC lies pompously. “The report will provide the latest assessment of scientific knowledge about the warming of the planet and projections for future warming, and assess its impacts on the climate system.” What “latest science” is that? Perhaps the stated view of “11,000 scientists” who released a letter today arguing that the COVID-19 pandemic is all fine and good, but far more drastic cuts in human activity as a whole are needed, including “stabilized and then declining population.” So the clock is indeed ticking, as the COP26 organizers announced. Helga Zepp-LaRouche today threw down the gauntlet against the green depopulation agenda. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are already riding, she stated, but we will rally the forces of science and human dignity to stop them, in an international anti-Malthusian alliance which presents an alternative to this madness of depopulation and warfare among the super-powers. An important step in that direction was taken at last Saturday’s July 24 Schiller Institute conference on the lie of climate change. Zepp-LaRouche added that we are seeing some small cracks in London’s geopolitical warfare strategy, such as the July 28 U.S.-Russian meeting in Geneva, but derogatory anti-Russian statements such as those issued once again by President Biden poison the environment to any serious progress. We remain on a short fuse to World War III because of the breakdown crisis of the entire trans-Atlantic financial system, she stated, but there is an opening around the Afghanistan situation for cooperation among the U.S., Russia, China and others, an opening which must be acted on immediately while it is still there. Historic windows of opportunity such as this one, Zepp-LaRouche explained, or like the one in 1989 with the Fall of the Berlin Wall, close quickly if the moment is missed. It is with that reality in mind that we turn to the twofold task of organizing this weekend’s July 31 Schiller Institute conference on Afghanistan, and building the international alliance of forces to make sure the Age of Depopulation never occurs.
When human societies enter a systemic, or breakdown crisis, they produce moments which seem to live in two “worlds” at the same time—worlds which are mutually contradictory or, more precisely, incommensurable. There is the equivalent of a mathematical discontinuity between them. They are what Lyndon LaRouche referred to frequently as “singularities,” unique moments of transition between two mutually irreconcilable conditions of the system. The fall of the Berlin Wall was one such moment in recent history. Another was the beginning of the French Revolution, that “great moment [that] has found a little people,” as Schiller wrote. Afghanistan represents precisely that kind of an opportunity/danger today, which is why Helga Zepp-LaRouche insists: “I compared [the Afghan pullout] to the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the German reunification and the end of the Soviet Union… In a certain sense, it’s different in scale, maybe, but not in terms of essential quality, because the end of the Soviet system was the end of a historical phase, the end of a system. And what the Afghanistan withdrawal signifies, it’s also the end of a system of endless wars.” The alternatives now facing that region (and the world) are to either descend fully into the hell of drugs, terrorism, an uncontrolled pandemic, and economic collapse; or to enter a new paradigm of win-win relations with the Belt and Road Initiative. Zepp-LaRouche stated: “The development and integration of Afghanistan is in the interests of the Afghani people, it is in the interests of their neighbors, in the interest of the entire Eurasian continent. So I’m quite optimistic that it can happen, but the crucial question is, will the United States cooperate with Russia and China?” Everything hangs in the balance. The danger of British-promoted confrontation between the U.S. and Russia is escalating (as are U.S.-China tensions), to the point that the Russian Foreign Ministry yesterday held a board meeting chaired by Sergey Lavrov, which issued a sharply-worded statement that “bilateral relations [with the U.S.] had approached a dangerous confrontational threshold through the fault of Washington, who have provoked an unprecedented escalation between our states over the recent years.” This, they note, despite the potential for strategic dialogue signalled by the June 16 summit between Biden and Putin. What, then, is the nature of moments of singularity such as today’s, and how are we to act upon them? The outcome of such transitional moments is not foreordained, but is subject to Man’s willful intervention. Helga Zepp-LaRouche, in an October 1987 writing “On the Sweetness of Truth,” written to celebrate the 65th birthday of her husband, the late Lyndon LaRouche, discussed Nicholas of Cusa’s work “The Vision of God”: “The universe consists of negentropically growing manifolds of ever higher orderings, whose microcosm is human Reason. If the person now recognizes this divine order of creation, at each singularity, that is to say, at the transition from one manifold into the next higher, by his creative efforts he will determine the ‘terminus specie’ which enables further development … It is at this moment, that creating and being created coincide also for human beings, since the actualization of infinity in one point (terminus specie),— in a singularity — means, that the knowledge upon which he bases his creation, must be adequate, that is to say, it must represent the greatest possible approximation to Truth at that time. Through the creative act, the human being extends anew the lawfulness of the universe in a lawful way.” [emphasis added—ed.] In his October 1995 “Riemann Refutes Euler: Background to a Breakthrough,” LaRouche addressed the same concept in terms of music and classical composition: “The singularity in question is generated by the difference in direction of time-sense—backwards versus forwards—of the two, interacting ideas respecting the poem or musical composition in mid-performance… The character of these ideas as singularities arises from the way in which their existence is generated subjectively: by the same kind of processes underlying the reading and composition of a valid Classical strophic poem. The quality of ‘singularity,’ and the associated form of mathematical discontinuity, arises from the opposing senses of time associated with the interplay of perfected ideas with the process of their development.” [emphasis added—ed.] The Afghan singularity, and its creative resolution, will be the subject of a Schiller Institute international seminar on Saturday, July 31. And it will come into proper focus as such, located between the Saturday, July 24, Schiller Institute webcast on the fraud of climate change and the coming blackouts; and the Saturday, Aug. 14 seminar sponsored by the LaRouche Legacy Foundation, “On the 50th Anniversary of LaRouche’s Stunning Forecast of August 15, 1971.”
Lyndon LaRouche frequently made his audiences uncomfortable by posing to them the question of whether or not the United States, and Mankind as a whole, had lost the moral fitness to survive—that if the trajectory of current policies and thinking continued, our species might well disappear. For example, in his Feb. 15, 2000 article, “‘He’s a Bad Guy, But We Can’t Say Why’”, LaRouche wrote: “Through the cult of popular opinion, Rome acquired its fatal loss of the moral fitness of its culture to survive. We as a nation, have been following that same road to Hell, during no less than the recent three decades. The leading, characteristic pathology of that self-doomed Roman culture was the corruption of the mass of the population by the methods of ‘bread and circuses.’ There is virtually no moral difference between the form of entertainment which the Romans enjoyed in the Coliseum under the worst of the Caesars, and popular mass-entertainment today, both TV entertainment, and such forms as mass-spectator stadium and related sports events. If one compares the pornography and blood-and-gore in mass entertainment, with what usually passes for mass-media news broadcasts, one should recognize, with a sense of horror, the systemic likeness of the moral depravity of ancient Roman culture and our own.” LaRouche elaborated: “History punishes, or even weeds out nations and cultures which suffer a manifestly incurable want of the moral fitness to survive.” Now consider today’s withdrawal from Afghanistan by the U.S. and allied NATO forces. Will we be able to debate out and change the disastrous policies which led us into that 20-year catastrophe? This is a crossroad for humanity, Helga Zepp-LaRouche told associates today. Will we allow Afghanistan to sink into a civil war, with an ensuing nightmare of terrorism, drugs and mass migration? Will we continue the same, failed policies? Or can we change those policies and cooperate with China, Russia, and other powers for the well-being of the entire area, by extending the Belt and Road Initiative across the region, as Lyndon LaRouche long advocated? Or consider the COVID-19 crisis, where the world has just reached the terrible marker of 4 million deaths due to the pandemic, while the majority of the world’s population still has almost no access to life-saving vaccines and other health requirements. As Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization, just stated: “Vaccine nationalism, where a handful of nations have taken the lion’s share, is morally indefensible and an ineffective public health strategy.” He added: “The fact that millions of health and care workers have still not been vaccinated is abhorrent.” Will we find the moral fitness to at last adopt the necessary world health policy that Helga Zepp-LaRouche has championed, of quickly providing not only vaccines, but modern health capabilities in every nation on the planet, with the needed accompanying development of food, energy, infrastructure, and other physical economic requirements? To best address the urgent strategic issue of mankind’s moral fitness to survive, the LaRouche Legacy Foundation has announced that it will be holding an international seminar “On the 50th Anniversary of LaRouche’s Stunning Forecast of August 15, 1971: So, Are You Finally Willing to Learn Economics?” The online seminar will bring together leading international experts to examine the unique contributions of Lyndon LaRouche (1922—2019) to the science of physical economy, on the 50th anniversary of President Richard Nixon’s fateful announcement of the end of the Bretton Woods system on August 15, 1971. As the announcement states: “This is also an urgent invitation to reflect on what went wrong with economic policy in the trans-Atlantic sector over the last five decades, in order to correct those persisting policy blunders and change course before we plunge into a breakdown crisis comparable only to the 14th century New Dark Age.”
In a press conference immediately following his June 16 summit discussion with President Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked about the future of U.S.-Russian relations. “As for sanctions and economic restrictions, I have already pointed out that we are not aware of the domestic political mood and the line-up of forces [in the U.S.], or rather we know, but we cannot fully understand the developments. Some forces are against improving relations with Russia, and others support this. I cannot say which of them will win.”The LaRouche Organization and the Schiller Institute have been the most consistent and clearest voices for strategic sanity, uniquely presenting Lyndon LaRouche’s policies for constructing a durable peace based on the bankruptcy reorganization of the global financial system, and providing for the accelerated development of the impoverished developing sector, in particular. The most consistent and clearest voice for strategic lunacy, and driving the world to the brink of nuclear war in order to defend that same bankrupt financial system, has been that of the British Empire. Today, the British Navy’s guided missile destroyer Defender, operating in the Black Sea, intentionally crossed 3 km over into Russian territorial waters off the coast of Crimea, and only departed 30 minutes later after a Russian border guard patrol ship twice fired warning shots across its bow, followed by a fighter jet dropping four bombs in front of the Defender’s path. As former British Ambassador Craig Murray commented: “There are those who see this activity as evidence of the UK’s continued great power status. I see it as evidence of lunacy.” Indeed. All the more so since Putin and other Russian government officials have this week presented the U.S. with concrete initiatives to get the security dialogue underway, and reiterated their government’s willingness to put Russia’s hypersonic and other advanced weapon systems on the negotiating table, so long as serious overall talks occur. And all the more so since the Chinese government has similarly presented the West with an honorable exit from their dead-end economic policies which have unleashed a deadly pandemic which threatens the entire planet, offering instead agreements for economic cooperation that can begin with the establishment of a worldwide system of advanced health-care systems to address the current, and likely future, pandemics. A week ago, Putin stated “I cannot say which of them will win,” referring to the policy battle in the U.S. and the West in general over cooperation or confrontation to address the global crises. The answer to that question, in significant measure, will be provided by those participating in the ongoing process of policy discussion at the Schiller Institute’s international conferences, including the upcoming one to be held this weekend on June 26-27.
U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin emerged from their four-hour summit discussion today in Geneva, Switzerland, to present to the world a “U.S-Russia Presidential Joint Statement on Strategic Stability,” whose brief text includes the following central commitment: “Today, we reaffirm the principle that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” That exact phrase was used by Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev in their famous November 1985 summit at the height of the Cold War, in the very same location.Presidents Biden and Putin further agreed to establish a bilateral Strategic Stability Dialogue for teams of experts on both sides to begin work on the myriad security-related problems facing the two countries, and the world. The summit meeting, both leaders agreed, was constructive, and a first step towards improving U.S.-Russian relations, which have sunk to their lowest level in decades, perhaps ever. Strategically, this is a step back from the brink, and an urgently needed one. But it is a small first step, which is not yet secure and which the enemies of peaceful cooperation between the U.S., Russia and China will deploy heavily to stop. In fact, the very fact that President Biden met with Putin at all, let alone reached a modest agreement to begin talks, has already provoked wild hysteria among the press hyenas, who tore into Biden at his post-summit press conference in a way they had previously reserved for President Trump. Those media are the paid hit-men for the bankrupt Wall Street and City of London interests, and their Establishment operators in the military-industrial complex, the intelligence agencies, and elsewhere, whose survival depends on stopping U.S. cooperation with Russia and China at all costs. The LaRouche Organization and the Schiller Institute have been insistently warning of the danger of nuclear war, precisely because of the unsalvageable bankruptcy of the entire trans-Atlantic financial system. We have sounded the alarm against the British-led drive to impose Malthusian depopulation across the planet, in the guise of the Great Green Reset. And, most importantly, we have restated and elaborated on the policies presented by Lyndon LaRouche as the only viable long-term strategy for winning a durable peace. Today’s small step, to succeed, must now be followed by the implementation of those policies: cooperation to build a world-class health system in every nation on the planet in order to defeat the pandemic; joint work in space sciences and exploration; and the bankruptcy reorganization of the existing financial system to stop the looming hyperinflationary explosion from destroying all physical economies. Back in March 1984, Lyndon LaRouche addressed exactly these issues, in a document titled “The LaRouche Doctrine: Draft Memorandum of Agreement Between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.” LaRouche prepared the document a year after his discussions with the Reagan administration had led to Ronald Reagan’s famous announcement of the Strategic Defense Initiative in March 1983, and a little more than a year before Reagan took this approach to the 1985 summit with Gorbachev in Geneva. In it LaRouche stated: “The political foundation for durable peace must be: a) The unconditional sovereignty of each and all nation-states, and b) Cooperation among sovereign nation-states to the effect of promoting unlimited opportunities to participate in the benefits of technological progress, to the mutual benefit of each and all. “The most crucial feature of present implementation of such a policy of durable peace is a profound change in the monetary, economic, and political relations between the dominant powers and those relatively subordinated nations often classed as ‘developing nations.’ Unless the inequities lingering in the aftermath of modem colonialism are progressively remedied, there can be no durable peace on this planet. “Insofar as the United States and Soviet Union acknowledge the progress of the productive powers of labor throughout the planet to be in the vital strategic interests of each and both, the two powers are bound to that degree and in that way by a common interest. This is the kernel of the political and economic policies of practice indispensable to the fostering of durable peace between those two powers…. “The powers jointly agree upon the adoption of two tasks as the common interest of mankind, as well as the specific interest of each of the two powers: 1) The establishment of full economic equity respecting the conditions of individual life in all nations of this planet during a period of not more than 50 years; 2) Man’s exploration and colonization of nearby space as the continuing common objective and interest of mankind during and beyond the completion of the first task. The adoption of these two working-goals as the common task and respective interest in common of the two powers and other cooperating nations, constitutes the central point of reference for erosion of the potential political and economic causes of warfare between the powers.”
As the clock ticks down for the June 16 scheduled summit between Presidents Biden and Putin, the British are gearing up their efforts to sabotage the summit, and more broadly to orchestrate a deadly strategic showdown between the U.S. on the one side, and China and Russia on the other.Neither the White House nor the Kremlin believe that any major breakthrough will occur at the summit—at best, each has stated for the record, an exchange of views will occur, and the lines of communication will remain open. But even that is far more than the British Empire can tolerate, and they are deployed accordingly—against both Russia and China. Even a cursory review of developments over the last 24 hours paints a clear picture: The drumbeat against Russia on the Belarusian detention of neo-Nazi Pratasevich is stepping up. The President of the EU Parliament David Sassoli has called for more sanctions against Russia, to help provoke regime-change. More Ukrainian terrorists have been arrested inside Russia, out to create chaos and topple Putin. British intelligence is taking the lead in the “Wuhan lab leak” concoction blaming China for the pandemic. And on and on. There are, of course, “realists” in the West who believe that the current confrontation course with China and Russia is both unnecessary and dangerously misguided. They occasionally are able to voice their views in the establishment media. But such “realism,” although laudable as a sentiment, will get exactly nowhere in preventing superpower confrontation and even warfare, unless it also takes on the actual cause of war: the collapsing trans-Atlantic economic and political system. As Lyndon LaRouche uniquely specified, the danger of war will persist until the City of London and Wall Street are put through bankruptcy reorganization, and a new international credit system is established to reverse the half-century decline in the planet’s Potential Relative Population Density through global infrastructure projects. The most pressing of these is the construction of a system of advanced health systems in every nation in the world, to turn the tide against the Covid-19 pandemic and to prepare for likely future viruses. As Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated in her latest weekly webcast: “So let’s hope that there will be a positive discussion about strategic issues [at the Biden-Putin summit], other important issues like the pandemic, the financial crisis, and not just climate change and the agenda of the City of London and Wall Street. “I think also important is the statement which was made by the spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, saying that nobody should hope that a positive meeting between the United States and Russia would somehow break the relationship between Russia and China. “So I think there is a potential that this summit could be a first step in the right direction and hopefully, the other proposal by President Putin to go for a UN Security Council five permanent member summit that would follow and address then the really urgent global issues. But it’s a building process, so I think the more people are discussing solutions the better, so let’s hope it works in a positive direction.”
On Wednesday, the Republican members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released their report “COVID-19 and the Wuhan Institute of Virology” as part of their exposing “the growing threat to America posed by the Communist Chinese government and the People’s Liberation Army.” It is largely a rehash of previously failed slanders. The interim report by the team delegated by the World Health Organization, with which China agreed to work, reported back that the SARS-CoV2 virus likely originated from bats or civets—but, if it did, the virus would have had to evolve through at least one or two other species. An extensive effort of tracking, testing, and tracing has failed so far to establish the trail, but the team recommended more such efforts in China and other parts of southeast Asia. The idea of an accidental escape of an engineered virus from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was found to be very remote, though not impossible. One of the problems is that every employee of the WIV was regularly given sera tests, with never a trace of the viral infection. Now, the WIV, as a world-class, high-level lab (a new one, set up with the help of the United States) has been under routine and constant electronic surveillance by US intelligence since years before Covid. (What is called “Gain of Function” manipulations of viruses is also the work where biological warfare research would go on, as with the various US labs.) Mobile phone signals, overhead satellite imagery, and communication intercepts have been pored over, for a hint of a lab shutdown due to accidental infections inside, to no avail. Now, for some examples of the rehash. First: “On January 15, 2021, the Department of State publicly revealed that several WIV researchers became sick in the fall of 2019 with COVID-like symptoms prior to the first confirmed case.” For this, it footnotes Pompeo’s infamous 1/15/2021 “Fact Sheet, Activity at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.” However, all that propagandistic release claimed was that there was illness—nothing about the newly-added “COVID-like symptoms.” In actuality, Pompeo’s claim of illness was based upon alleged sightings of fewer cars in the WIV parking lot, interpreted as more illnesses of personnel. This new report slips further, claiming the speculative illnesses were actually "COVID-like. Second example: “Additionally, uncorroborated media reports indicate there was no cellphone activity at the WIV between October 7, 2019 and October 24, 2019.” It’s footnote is to a Daily Mail article from 5/5/20, explaining that an NBC News’ “London-based verification unit” obtained a largely discredited “private analysis” from an unknown source, claiming that cell phone data was completely missing from high-security areas of the WIV in October, 2019—meaning a shutdown of the lab. However, the Daily Mail notes that the “document also appears to account for only a small number of cellphones that one would expect to be located in a facility that employs hundreds of people. It’s unclear who put together the document. A US official who has looked at the document told NBC News that the report’s data ‘looks really weak to me and some of the conclusions don’t make sense.’” But that doesn’t give the Republicans on the Intel Committee pause for thought. Finally, to claim that the lab was accident-prone, it cites a 3/8/21 article by Josh Rogin, in which Rogin employs an oft-repeated claim that a 2018 cable from the US Embassy in Beijing proves the lab was unsafe. In reality, the Chinese welcomed the scientists from the US Embassy to visit the WIV, the lab modeled on one in Houston, TX, and the visitors were impressed. The cable does say that, in the lab’s early days, the Chinese scientists had asked for any support they [U.S.] could offer as they expanded and tried to get and train more and more technicians. It was a routine request, entirely coherent in the context of the build-up of the lab, and not the “warning” of the hyperventilating Rogin. There’s more, but the point is made. Near the end, there is one footnote to a competent report, one examining the characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as to whether it was more likely to have been lab-engineered; however, the report makes no attempt to explain it, as there is no intent to conduct a discussion with the Chinese along such lines. (It would open up the question of military biological labs around the world, such as the infamous Ft. Detrick.) Rather, the Chinese must prove to us that they are not guilty, by opening up any and all facilities the US wants to examine, with no Chinese around to observe what we do. It concludes: “The world deserves unrestricted access to all this information, without Chinese meddling, in order to come to an informed scientific conclusion about the origins of COVID-19.” Such geopolitical games have nothing to do with a collaboration to get at the truth and/or win a war against COVID-19. In fact, should such a dangerous ‘wet-dream’ ever come to pass, the quality of this report pretty much insures that “informed scientific” practices would not be involved.
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met via videoconference hook-up to jointly inaugurate the beginning of construction of four new nuclear plants in China, based on Russian technology and advanced industrial input. More than simply celebrating that event alone, worthy though it is, the two heads of state used the occasion to present a global policy determination for their associated nations, and for all of humanity, centered, as President Xi put it, on making “a sizable intellectual contribution to the innovation-driven development of the global nuclear sphere,” based on “strengthening scientific and technical cooperation.”The importance of this development, on the eve of the May 21 Rome meeting of the G-20 Global Health Summit, is that it represents the only pathway forward to solve the current existential breakdown crises facing Mankind. Small wonder that nations across the developing sector—from Africa to Central America to Asia—which have been written off by the Malthusians running the trans-Atlantic sector, are increasingly turning to China and Russia There is a reason Lyndon LaRouche insistently called for a “Four Power” agreement to solve the crises facing humanity—an alliance of the United States, Russia, China, and India to combine their historic national self-interests; their current economic, demographic, and military weight; and their future potential of scientific and cultural breakthroughs, to decisively defeat the British Empire’s policy of Malthusian deindustrialization and associated bestial concept of Man. China and Russia are providing a clear alternative to that collapsed imperial order. India is currently sidelined in a life-and-death battle against an uncontrolled explosion of the COVID-19 pandemic. And the United States needs to be radically shifted in the direction identified by LaRouche. In an Oct. 10, 2009 address to the Seventh Annual Rhodes Conference, which he titled “A Four-Power Agreement Can Create a New World Credit System,” LaRouche prophetically stated: “The task, as I defined it, is, if Russia, and the United States, and China, and India, agree, as a group of countries, to initiate and force a reorganization of the world financial and credit system, under those conditions, with long-term agreements, of the same type that Franklin Roosevelt had uttered before his death, in 1944, under key nations, the intention of Roosevelt all these years later, could have been realized, and we could do that, today. “That’s our chance: Either we do that, or we go under. I can assure you, if you think that there’s any possibility that the present system could continue into the coming year, as a system to work with, that there will not be a general, continuing, worsening crisis, at the present time, there will be no economic recovery in any part of the planet, under the present conditions. “We’re now headed for a general chain-reaction breakdown crisis, caused by not only this particular financial crisis, but caused by globalization. Because under these conditions, every nation has become so dependent upon other nations, that any disease, of the economy, any breakdown disease of the economy, will bring down all nations of the economy, in chain-reaction form. At what speed, we can’t be sure. But that’s the danger. “So, the issue now is the political decision: Can we have the United States, under an improved Presidency—and it does require improvement—can we have the United States, Russia, China, and India, become a bloc of countries, which each have different characteristics, but if they recognize among themselves, that they have a common interest, they will adapt to each other, and respect each other’s different characteristics. The result of this, will be the elimination of the monetary system of the world that has been dominating European civilization since the Peloponnesian War.”
The presidents of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, both participated in a videoconference hookup yesterday to launch the beginning of construction of four new nuclear plants in China, based on Russian technology. These are two units each at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in the city of Lianyungang, and at the Xudapu nuclear plant in Huludao district in northeastern China. The two presidents chose to make this a major policy-shaping occasion for their two countries, as well as one globally focused on the role of innovation and scientific and technological cooperation in achieving development. “It is necessary to strive for innovation-based development and to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation in the nuclear sphere,” Xi Jinping stated, reiterating that the two countries had agreed “to make a sizable intellectual contribution to the innovation-driven development of the global nuclear sphere.” The Chinese president asserted that “our countries have been providing each other with solid support and have been engaged in close and effective cooperation” in many areas, and that “energy has always been the biggest and most successful branch in our practical cooperation while nuclear energy cooperation has been its strategic priority. We are jointly upgrading our cooperation in this area and have already put into operation a host of major projects.” Through their joint work, Russia and China will “make a sizable contribution to the global development of nuclear energy,” Xi stated. Putin responded by effusively greeting “President Xi Jinping, my dear friend,” emphasizing that “Russian and Chinese specialists are working on this flagship joint project which is truly a milestone. They are building powerful, modern Russian-designed nuclear reactors that meet all safety and environmental standards. It is planned that they will start operating as soon as in 2026—2028, which, as President Xi just said, will be a solid contribution to China’s energy security.” Putin emphasized “Russia’s unique high technology capabilities in industrial production,” adding that “President Xi and I determined the main areas of our genuinely close partnership, the cooperation between Russia and China on nuclear technology, during my state visit to China in 2018… It can be said that Russia-China relations have reached their highest level in history.” The Russian President then stated: “Returning to the topic of nuclear energy cooperation, I would like to note, with great satisfaction, that all the agreements reached at the highest level are being consistently and unfailingly fulfilled. In addition to the construction of new power units at the Tianwan and Xudapu nuclear power plants, there are many other large Russian-Chinese initiatives that have been and are being implemented. These initiatives include an experimental fast neutron reactor built in China with Russia’s participation… Russia also supplied China with radionuclide heating blocks for the spacecraft that was the first in history to land on the far side of the Moon in 2019. We were extremely happy about your success, dear Chinese friends.” “I am convinced that Russia and China will have many more ambitious and successful projects together. We are ready to develop our cooperation in the construction of nuclear power plants, and innovative partnership in the development and implementation of low-carbon and other technologies.” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that the project is the biggest China-Russia nuclear energy cooperation project to date.
Fresh off the Schiller Institute’s May 8 international conference “The Moral Collapse of the Trans-Atlantic World Cries Out for a New Paradigm,” Schiller Institute founder and President Helga Zepp-LaRouche used her weekly webcast yesterday to renew her urgent call for a summit meeting among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, the so-called P-5.“The overall situation is so explosive,” Zepp-LaRouche told her audience, “that if we do not change course, we could be headed towards war, only this time with nuclear weapons…. That is why at our recent May 8 conference we reiterated our support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s call for an urgent summit of the P-5 nations … to find solutions to the crisis based on cooperation, and not confrontation.” In her webcast, Zepp-LaRouche reviewed the many, interconnected dangers facing mankind today: of war—including the real possibility of nuclear war; of famine, created by sanctions and deliberate refusal to fund development; of an out-of-control pandemic, as in India, and many other nations lacking a modern health care system; and of the devastating effects of growing inflation, which destroy people’s life-work and the ability of families to survive, and which is a symptom of a breakdown crisis of the trans-Atlantic financial system. Zepp-LaRouche placed special emphasis on the very real danger of nuclear war — which could be unleashed either by intent of rabidly Malthusian ideologues among the Anglo-American elites, or by blunders and miscalculations of governments blinded by their own arrogance, under conditions of escalating tension on all fronts. “At our May 8 conference there was an important discussion about the immediacy of the danger of a nuclear war. A nuclear war can happen either by design — and there are studies and proposals calling for this from the Atlantic Council, the Rand Corporation, and others — or it can also occur because of the overall level of tension between the U.S., the U.K., and Europe on one side, and Russia and China on the other side. The tensions are becoming so great that any one of many hotspots around the world could, by accident or miscalculation, get out of control and lead to a chain of escalation,” she warned. Zepp-LaRouche stressed that none of the grave crises facing mankind can be resolved unless they are all resolved, and that requires a total bankruptcy reorganization of today’s trans-Atlantic system and its replacement by a New Paradigm built on Classical principles in culture, politics, and economics. She stressed that the May 8 Schiller Institute conference offered a proof of principle that people can be mobilized by an appeal to the higher humanity which resides in all people. She pointed to the dialogue which occurred during the two panels, which demonstrated a willingness to grapple with profound questions, and to the role of the Schiller Institute in creating a forum for thinking through and building support for solutions.
The well-known and controversial American film director Oliver Stone, who ruffled Establishment feathers with his 2017 four-part, four-hour interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, was interviewed by the Washington Post on May 11, in which he denounced the ongoing “war against Russia” by the U.S. and NATO. He argued that, instead of this “suicidal path” of confrontation, the U.S. should “get along with China. Let’s get along with Russia, Iran and so forth.” The relevant section of the interview follows:“Listen, there’s been a campaign, a war against Russia going on for a long time. It started again in the United States around 2006, ’07, when he [Putin] made that speech in Munich at the 2007 Munich Security Conference, but I think there’s no evidence really of the aggressiveness of Russia. The aggressiveness is truly coming from the NATO forces that have encircled Russia and that are also, by the way, encircling China. You know, this is a big policy point, huge, of huge importance, and if my life has any importance, maybe I’ll come to a place where I can deal with it, confront it…. “We have to have people in the United States who speak up for the peace point of view, for let’s make progress with the world. Let’s get along with China. Let’s get along with Russia, Iran, and so forth. We have to change our point of view, because we are seeking to still be the only power in the world that is in control of the world. We cannot continue on this path; it’s a suicidal path. And I think many Americans agree with me, but it’s never been allowed to be stated politically. People who say this type of stuff never win elections.”
The world is careening, nearly out of control, towards the twin deadly dangers of nuclear war between superpowers, and a systemic economic breakdown crisis which threatens to sweep away millions upon millions of human beings, or even swallow up entire nations in the maelstrom.Biden’s Secretary of State Tony Blinken arrived in Ukraine today to prod and jack up that nation into a confrontation with Russia. He was accompanied by none other than Victoria Nuland, the hands-on operative who oversaw the 2014 Nazi coup in Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration and the British. Before that, Blinken was at the G7 meeting in London May 3-5, where he tried to bludgeon Europe with a simple message: Thou shalt not cooperate with China, or else. He reserved special venom for the Belt and Road Initiative, which the State Department denounced as “economic coercion” which “compromises the sovereignty of those countries”—when in fact it is those nations’ only hope of survival in the middle of a physical economic breakdown crisis. If you want to know what systemic economic breakdown looks like “on the ground,” take India, which is being torn asunder by the COVID pandemic unleashed by 50 years of international economic policies of looting and speculation. There are officially 20 million COVID cases and over 222,000 COVID deaths in that nation of 1.4 billion people. But sober Indian sources in the medical community estimate the actual death toll to be 5-10 times greater—i.e., between 1 and 2 million Indians have already died of COVID. And it is spreading like wildfire, completely overwhelming the country’s medical system. New variants of the virus are reported to be appearing with such rapidity that they are outpacing the ability of vaccination to contain the firestorm. Is this “India’s problem”? Half of the planet’s new COVID cases and a quarter of the COVID deaths are now happening in India, population 1.4 billion. The head of the Africa CDC a few days ago expressed his grave concern, both because of what was happening to India and also because India has been the major exporter of vaccines to the continent of Africa—exports which will now cease almost entirely. Africa’s population is over 1.2 billion. And in Brazil—population 211 million, out of Latin America’s 650 million—the pandemic is almost as badly out of control as in India. And yet, with this gravest of existential threats facing humanity, the British Empire and its Wall Street and City of London financial hitmen—the very forces responsible for the COVID catastrophe—are accelerating their drive for a Green New Deal and a Global Reset. At every opportunity, they are demanding earlier and earlier deadlines to meet their so-called carbon net zero goals, a form of green insanity that will predictably bring about the deaths of hundreds of millions of people. “This is beyond an economic breakdown,” Helga Zepp-LaRouche commented yesterday. “This form of collective suicide reflects the mass breakdown of reason itself, and we have to take the gloves off to stop this Malthusian insanity.” The pandemic, the war danger, the economic breakdown can all be stopped and reversed; but it will require an international mobilization of all nations and political forces on the planet to do so, with a programmatic focus long specified by Lyndon LaRouche. Interested in being part of that historic process? Participate in the Schiller Institute international conference this Saturday May 8, beginning at 9 a.m. EDT.
The widespread application of waterboarding, electroshock, and other forms of torture have rightly been denounced as a barbaric form of conduct, dehumanizing to both the victim and the perpetrator, which meet the Nuremberg code criteria of true crimes against humanity. What shall we say, then, about a collapsing global system which is hell-bent on applying the economic policy equivalent of torture to entire nations, and even to nuclear superpowers like Russia and China, in a vain effort to “modify their behavior” to the point of capitulation to the diktats of London and Washington? This is moral insanity; it is surely economic insanity; but it is also strategic insanity. It will, if left unchecked, lead to thermonuclear war. President Vladimir Putin stated as much in plain Russian, in his April 21 Federal Assembly speech, in which he warned that strategic red lines were being crossed and that Russia would respond asymmetrically. On April 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov repeated Putin’s warning, and stating that the situation today is like the “conditions of a Cold War, or even worse,” except that “during the Cold War there were numerous high-risk conflict situations, but there was also mutual respect. I believe that this is lacking now.” Earlier this month there was a planned Nazi coup in Belarus—which was scheduled for the May 9 Victory Day celebrations of the defeat of fascism in Europe—which was exposed and dismantled, thanks to the prompt action of Russian authorities. Yesterday, the Russian FSB arrested 16 Ukrainian radicals in Russia who were planning, in their own words, to “carry out mass killings and explosions, set buildings on fire and shoot down people.” And now we have economic sanctions being wielded against Russia by Washington and London the way an interrogator uses his electrodes: to cause maximum pain to produce “changed behavior.” The April 22 Moscow Times quoted Atlantic Council sanctions expert Brian O’Toole, who worked at the Obama Treasury Department, where he devised the sanctions regime against Russia, asserting that today Russia is only at “around 10% on the pain meter…. Working up to actually blocking transactions with a Russian bank or two … that’s what gets you up to 60 or 70% on the pain meter. Blocking Sberbank, for instance … that would be real financial warfare.” Behavioral economics, like its predecessor behavioral psychology, is built on the bestial (and scientifically fraudulent) premise that all human behavior can be explained by “stimulus-response” patterns to pleasure and pain. If you want to get someone to change their behavior, just threaten to progressively minimize their pleasure and/or maximize their pain until they comply. That may seem to work when you apply electroshock conditioning to captive mice in a laboratory maze, or to prisoners in a concentration camp—as the Nazis were so fond of experimenting with. But are you really so stupid as to think that that is the way the United States should conduct its foreign policy with Russia and China? Or are you so morally indifferent that you are content to look the other way while our government in Washington plays such nuclear “chicken games” with other nations, especially superpowers? As former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard told a nationwide TV audience on the Tucker Carlson show back on April 12: “We need to understand that such a war would come at a cost beyond anything that we can really imagine. Because this is not a war that’s happening to someone else, somewhere else on the other side of the world. No, this is something that will directly impact me, and you, Tucker, every single one of your viewers, and all of our loved ones. And this is a war that is not a game. It’s a war in which there are no winners, because you’ve got thousands of nuclear weapons that the U.S. has aimed towards Russia; Russia has thousands of nuclear weapons that are aimed towards us, that could hit any town or city in the U.S. in less than thirty minutes, that could exact a cost on every one of us that would result in excruciating death and suffering beyond comprehension—hundreds of millions of people dying and suffering seeing their flesh burned from their bones. This is something that you can’t really even imagine. And it’s a cost that we will all pay.” There is another approach, which actually works, because it is constructed on Man’s actual nature—“the better angels of our nature.” On April 25, the world celebrated Elbe Day, the date in 1945 when American and Soviet troops united at the Elbe River in Germany to finish off the job of defeating Nazism. On May 9, Victory Day, the surrender of Nazi Germany will be remembered around the world. One day earlier, on Saturday, May 8, both occasions will be celebrated at an international conference being organized by the Schiller Institute, in the only way that is meaningful under these conditions: by rebuilding an alliance of forces within nations of the East and the West, to jointly help rebuild the nations of the South.
Russian President Vladimir Putin reserved what were perhaps the sharpest words of his April 21 speech to the Federal Assembly, for the matter of the foiled assassination and coup attempt against Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Putin began by making the speech’s only direct allusion to the financial declaration of war against Russia issued by President Biden on April 15: “Everyone in the world seems to be used to the practice of politically motivated, illegal economic sanctions and to certain actors’ brutal attempt to impose their will on others by force. But today, this practice is degenerating into something even more dangerous—I am referring to the recently exposed direct interference in Belarus in an attempt to orchestrate a coup d’état and assassinate the President of that country.”Putin continued: “Nobody seems to notice. Everyone pretends nothing is happening…. But the practice of staging coups d’état and planning political assassination, including those of high-ranking officials—well, this goes too far. This is beyond any limits.” Putin then warned that those who stage such provocations “must know that Russia’s response will be asymmetrical, swift and tough. Those behind provocations that threaten the core interests of our security will regret what they have done in a way they have not regretted anything for a long time.” For anyone wondering about the vehemence of Putin’s response to the Belarus developments, a brief glance at a map is useful. The country bordering western Russia on the south is Georgia: there was a failed coup d’état there by pro-NATO forces in 2008. The country bordering Russia on the west is Ukraine: A successful pro-Nazi coup by NATO and the U.S. was carried out there in 2014. The country bordering Russia on the west, just slightly farther north, is Belarus: a failed coup by pro-NATO forces was just stymied there in 2021. Belarus President Lukashenko told BelTA news agency this weekend, according to a report in TASS, that $10 million had been allocated for his assassination. “In Lukashenko’s words, the conspirators had drawn up a few scenarios. First, they plotted to assassinate the President at the May 9 parade. Next, they considered an attack on the presidential motorcade, so they even bought grenade launchers and brought them to Belarus. Lukashenko continued that under the third scenario, armed people were tasked to attack the presidential residence in the countryside.” Lukashenko went on that the conspirators planned to black out Minsk, call for a military uprising, and launch a civil war. He emphasized that such a cyberattack could be carried out “only at the state level,” since a handful of hackers would not be able to do the job. Lukashenko explained that foreign-backed opposition forces “were supposed to allegedly come to power here for 24 hours and declare that we are in power. What for? To ask NATO to send troops into Belarus and to deploy them on the eastern border near Smolensk. It was a springboard—I have always told you—to attack Russia. It was the first step. Even though they would deny it, today we see that it is true,” said Lukashenko. Asked about rumors that he had discussed with Putin the establishment of Russian military bases in Georgia, Lukashenko replied: “We talked no bases. Why should Belarus set up a base?… Our area of responsibility—of the Belarusian army—is the west. If there is an act of aggression against us, we have enough forces to contain it at first while Russia is rolling out in the rear. They have two or three armies there to back up the Belarusian army in that direction. That is our strategy. What do these bases have to do with that?” As the world faces such grave dangers of renewed warfare, both military and economic, the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus performed a magnificent concert on Sunday, April 25, the 76th anniversary of the “Spirit of the Elbe,” the day that American and Soviet troops met at the Elbe River in Germany and joined to put a rapid end to World War II. The concert, “Beethoven’s Credo: Believe in the Future, a World Without War,” was dedicated to renewing that “Spirit of the Elbe,” which is much needed today.
The potential to defeat the genocidal “green new deal” and “great reset” policies of the bankrupt trans-Atlantic Establishment is palpable and growing. That is what makes the global strategic situation “dangerous, polarized, interesting and hopeful—all of the above at the same time,” Helga Zepp-LaRouche asserted today.A growing number of powerful voices are being raised which, although still nodding in the direction of the green climate-change mythology, are digging in their heels against the idea of sacrificing millions or billions of people, especially in the underdeveloped sector, on the altar of Malthusian environmentalism. Yesterday it was the Indian Energy Minister and an angry editorial in China’s Global Times. Today it is Copenhagen Consensus President Bjorn Lomborg, whose op-ed was notably published in the semi-official China Daily, which argued: “Six billion not-rich people also want access to plentiful and cheap energy, lifting them out of hunger, sickness and poverty.” If the G7 nations try to deprive them of that, in the name of an illusory Green New Deal, “that will go badly,” Lomborg accurately warned. One wonders if President Joe Biden, or his Secretary of State Tony Blinken (whose recent speech on climate change seems to have been ghost-written by Greta Thunberg), have any understanding at all of the worldwide political and economic firestorm they are about to set off at the April 22-23 climate summit. Perhaps not; but it is likely that some of that strategic reality will be brought to the gathering by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who just announced that he will in fact address the virtual meeting—with a live speech that will simultaneously be broadcast on Russian national television. In that Thursday speech by Putin, and his much-awaited annual speech to Russia’s Federation Assembly a day earlier on Wednesday, April 21, Biden may well receive Russia’s response to the drastically deteriorating strategic situation, including last week’s U.S. declaration of economic warfare against Russia, which came on top of the overt military provocations against Russia taking place in the Ukrainian theater. Chinese President Xi Jinping also continues to make his views known. In addressing the Boao Forum for Asia today, Xi warned that “we must reject the cold-war and zero-sum mentality … and ideological confrontation in whatever forms,” and instead cooperate around projects such as the Belt and Road Initiative to help lift people out of poverty around the world, as the Chinese have so successfully done in their country. “‘By setting sail together, we could ride the wind, break the waves, and brave the journey of ten thousand miles.’ We may at times encounter stormy waves and dangerous rapids, but as long as we pool our efforts and keep to the right direction, the giant vessel of human development will stay on an even keel and sail toward a brighter future,” Xi stated. What is still missing is a loud outcry from political forces in Europe and the Americas, that we will not simply sit by and watch Malthusian genocide be implemented in the Congo, in Syria, in Yemen, in Venezuela and elsewhere. The greatest obstacle to be overcome to organize the population and leaders of the U.S. and the trans-Atlantic world in general, Helga Zepp-LaRouche stressed again today, is the moral indifference with which our culture has been corrupted. It is this indifference which is allowing the British Empire and its Wall Street allies to get away with, literally, murder. Mexico’s ambassador to the United Nations, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, hit the nail on the head in an op-ed published by Mexico’s El Universal yesterday: “I don’t know what is more alarming: the magnitude of the suffering which hunger causes in the world today, or the indifference with which those of us who don’t go hungry react to it.” He went on to denounce the toleration of children dying of hunger as no less a crime against humanity than “deliberately denying people access to food [which] constitutes a crime against humanity.” Our moral fitness to survive is indeed being tested, Zepp-LaRouche stated. Yet Western civilization does have the moral and intellectual resources required to defeat such indifference, and is capable of summoning them forth. That is what political organizing is all about. We have to evoke agapē, sometimes known as charity or love of mankind, which was the cornerstone for the Peace of Westphalia. It is the emotion or state of one’s soul that is inextricably woven into Nicholas of Cusa’s concept of the Coincidence of Opposites, which is the method of creative thinking that allows one to lift oneself above the moral indifference of the majority, and embrace a passionate commitment to the General Welfare—and then act on it. That method is the subject of the Schiller Institute’s upcoming May 8 conference on “The Moral Collapse of the Trans-Atlantic World Cries Out for a New Paradigm.”
The White House announced a series of sanctions against Russia today, the gravest of which—because of what it portends—is an attack on Russia’s ability to issue ruble-denominated debt, with the stated purpose of triggering massive capital flight and wreaking havoc on the Russian economy.By prohibiting American companies and financial institutions from purchasing ruble- denominated public debt as of June 14, 2021, a Senior Administration Official briefed the press on background today, the U.S. intends to provoke “a negative feedback loop”: “This is the main market that funds the Russian government… Removing U.S. investors as buyers in this market can create a broader chilling effect that raises Russia’s borrowing costs, along with capital flight and a weaker currency. And all of these forces have a material impact on Russia’s growth and inflation outcomes.” Biden justified the measures, which included the expulsion of ten diplomats and other sanctions, by “declaring a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States” purportedly posed by Russia. His Executive Order also threatens to impose additional measures in the future: “We are prepared, going forward, to impose substantial and lasting costs” on Russia if they do not behave as they are told. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to the measures: “We have repeatedly warned the United States about the consequences of their hostile steps, which are increasing the confrontation between our countries to dangerous levels.” She also noted that such U.S. actions bring into doubt “the practicability of the use of the dollar and the reliability of Western-controlled payment systems,” according to an account in Sputnik. On April 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had told IRNA press agency that, in light of the killer economic sanctions being imposed on countries like Syria, Yemen, Iran and Venezuela, Russia would be “stepping up efforts to reduce risks associated with sanctions,” and that “gradual steps should be taken to move towards de-dollarization.” Biden’s moves today could well accelerate the process of the BRICS and associated countries moving to dump the dollar altogether in self defense, possibly detonating the entire trans-Atlantic financial system. The big winner of a combined blowout of the financial system and war-like confrontation between the United States and Russia, and between the U.S. and China, would be the British Empire. The Ukraine and Taiwan provocations against Russia and China, respectively, continue to create the grave danger of military confrontation as well. Add to that the worsening pandemic and the famine threatening hundreds of millions, and we have what Helga Zepp-LaRouche has referred to as a civilizational crisis of an unprecedented nature. To wake up the world to that danger, to shake people out of the moral indifference which breeds pessimism and inaction, Zepp-LaRouche and the Schiller Institute today issued an “Urgent Call to Stop the Genocide in Syria and Yemen; The Moral Collapse of the Western System Cries Out for a New Paradigm.”
